thanksgivingは、まだなじみがないかもしれませんね。日本でも普通に「収穫祭」はあちこちでしていますから・・。
あちらの七面鳥事情、なかなか大変なようです。
友人の手紙より・・
As you know, our Thanksgiving holiday is next Thursday and the grocery stores are jammed with shoppers preparing for the holiday meals. Prices are much higher this year with our current inflation, and I’m sure many are cutting back on what they serve.
However, for those of us who are astute shoppers, there are still some bargains. Our grocery store sales (advertised in the newspaper every Wednesday morning) featured a lot of holiday meals bargains. For example, one store advertised if you bought $35 in groceries, it entitled you to buy a 10 lb+ whole frozen Turkey for 49 cents a lb. Normally it would be between $2-3 a lb. You cannot possibly find a better price for a lot of protein. So, I made a list that Nick took to shop with and he also got a 14 lb Turkey that I roasted this morning.
All of it will go into the freezer in smaller packages to be used later this winter for countless of dishes. Turkey is one of the most versatile proteins there is for American diets, and this amount will provide several meals for us.

おうち図書館、しばらく不定期なりますが、本紹介はショ-トなどで発信していきたいと思っています。
